On March 19, the feast day of Saint Joseph, Teresa Palmisano came to Sacred Heart School to share her family’s story about starting The Joseph Palmisano Memorial Scholarship Fund for Sacred Heart School and to announce the names of this year’s winners.  The Scholarship Fund was started six years ago to honor Joseph Palmisano, a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church and a husband, father, teacher, and coach.  Each November, his family conducts a basketball clinic to raise money for The Fund, and each January all Sacred Heart students participate in a writing contest named for him.  Each year the writing prompt is generated by the theme for Catholic Schools Week and this year’s theme focused on Faith. Academics. Service.

Five finalists were selected from each grade, and The Palmisano Family began the difficult task of selecting one winner from the primary, the intermediate, and the middle school levels.  This year, The Palmisano Family found it impossible to select only one winner from the middle school level and, for the first time, named two winners.

As announced at this year’s assembly, the primary level winner is Naomi, the intermediate level winner is Ani, and the middle school winners are Kaylee & Andrew.  Each winner receives a month’s tuition paid on their behalf by The Joseph Palmisano Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Congratulations to the winners for 2012!

If you would like to make a donation to The Joseph Palmisano Memorial Scholarship Fund at any time during the year, please contact the rectory or the school office.
