Dear Kindergarten Families,

This candid picture warms my heart and is a great example of how friendships have developed and grown in the first 23 days. Our last two weeks have focused on our family and loving hearts as we live in God’s grace.

Two big events this week: Wednesday is a non-uniform dress and Friday is Primary Centers.

Please send in a dollar to contribute to mission efforts on Wednesday and your children will enjoy showing off their favorite clothes. Please follow our non-uniform dress code which you can find in our School Handbook.

Primary Centers is on Friday with three groups of K, 1st and 2nd grade students spend about 20 minutes in each class for an art or craft project. The fun starts after recess. Parents who are coming to help will earn 2 service hours. Parents stay in their child’s class to assist in the project and the students rotate.

A quick look at academics:

Religion: continuing with the Old Testament readings from the Children’s Bible. We have read about Noah’s Ark and the Tower of Babel. Later this week, Jonah and the Whale. Crafts and video clips reinforce these stories.

ELA: focus letters Qq, Rr,  Ss and Tt. Sight word work, letter sounds, print practice and listening to stories read aloud.

EM: Section 1 activity 10-12 – our main focus is on patterning. Also getting to know coins as we sort and learn value.

Social Studies: continues with rules, routines, and good citizenship.

Science: Today’s lab will be exploring colors as we make colorful fall leaves. During the week we will release our worms and review soil and seeds.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Carol Brown
