Dear Kindergarten Families,

This week will be busy -and lot of fun ahead!

  • First art lesson – Tuesday
  • Picture Day on Wednesday
  • Primary Centers on Friday
  • Noon dismissal on Friday

Religion continues with stories from the Children’s Bible and Chapter 4 in our religion text, God’s World is Good. Lesson will encourage students to care for the world God made. Our School-wide Learning Expectation for this week is SLE C1 Take care of God’s world.

ELA– Focus letters for this week are Ss through Ww; noting initial sound and letter formation.  Comprehension skills – to compare and contrast as we note details in read aloud stories. Vocabulary skills describing words; prompted by fable The City Mouse and the Country Mouse and writing/drawing  using a description.  Beginning this week we begin sorting and examining pictures for a developmental approach to spelling.

Math-measurement with body height comparisons to objects in room, shape puzzles – combining and creating shapes, using ten frames to explore numbers and relationships through 10.

Science-life science – continuing with birds, life cycle, coverings, movement and season changes.

Social Studies- review of maps and mapping our classroom, home, neighborhood and other places.

Reminders: library is on Thursday, books must be returned by Wednesday in order to check out a book on Thursday. Homework is due on Thursday, remember to print out reading log and any other papers. If you cannot print please let me know.
