Dear Kindergarten Families,

We had a great time crafting and getting to know our 1st and 2nd grade buddies during the first Primary Centers! I really appreciate all parents who were able to come and help. Thank you! Many more centers coming through the year.

This week we have a special art lesson presented by Nancy Spooner. She teaches after school art classes each week on Thursday. If your child enjoys art and many techniques look for her flyer in the school family envelope October 7.

Academics for this week:

Religion: continuing with Bible stories, craft, and scripture. Also we will work on learning our School-wide Learning Expectations. This week: A.3 Help others at home, school and the world.

ELA- This week Theme 1 will finish. Our focus letters for the week are U-Z. Printing upper and lower case letters, when your child writes his/her name encourage the correct case. We are working hard on letter formation! Reading and listening to stories – noting how things compare and contrast.

EM- I am planning to finish Section 1.13- 1.16 so next week we start section 2. This work consists of measurement, shapes, and ten frames. Lots of counting 0-30 by 1’s and counting by 10’s to 100. Work in the Everyday Math book at home it really helps reinforce math skills and concepts.

Science lab on Tuesday, we’ll learn about fall and how the seasons change.

Social studies finds us looking near and far, discovering maps and designing our own maps of school and home.

Return library books by Wednesday so your child may check out a new one.

Enjoy your week!

Mrs. Brown
