Dear Families,

This is a very busy week for the fifth grade students.  This Wednesday is free dress for a dollar donation for Adopt-a- Family in Los Angeles.   Every Tuesday and Thursday we will be selling water for one dollar.  Friday is Grandparents Day.  We will begin our day with mass at 8:30.  Friday is also a noon dismissal as the teachers have a staff meeting.

Below is an overview of our week:

Religion- We are discussing how we worship together as Catholics.  The theme throughout the year for my class is to treat everyone as you want to be treated.  The students are doing an excellent job with their buddies!

Vocabulary- Unit 2

Spelling-Unit 22

Math- We will finish our work on negative and positive numbers on the number line.  We will prepare for our first math test which will be next Tuesday.

Science- We will continue with chapter one which is all about cells.  The students did an excellent job when we used the microscopes.

Social Studies- We will continue with chapter one.

English-We are working on sentence structure.  We will work on synonyms, antonyms and homographs.  We are also going to practice using a Thesaurus o identify word choices and meanings.

Literature- We are continuing to read The Indian in the Cupboard.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Thank you

Ms. Carney
