Dear Kindergarten Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed their 3-day weekend! We have a fun week ahead, planning for Grandparent’s Day on Friday. If your child’s grandparents do not live close or cannot come visit on Friday, please ask a family member, friend or parents can fill in.  It is so important for kindergarten children to have someone close to them be here.

School Pictures on Wednesday – in uniforms. We try to be the first ones up for pictures. Send in form or use the online option.

Our day starts with Mass at 8:30. Following Mass grandparents or special friends will share a bit of time and refreshments in the Hall while students have recess. Mrs. Benner will announce when classroom visits begin.

Stories from the Bible tells us of God’s love for us. Scripture focus is based on Psalms 78:4. “We will tell the wonderful things the Lord has done.” As we continue reading in our Religion text and the Children’s Bible.

This week we begin Words Their Way in language arts. Sorting pictures; categorizing and looking for patterns with these pictures will eventually lead to spelling words. Reading and writing workshops, sight words, print practice, and ABC review will continue this week.

Everyday Math lessons focus on counting down to zero. Introducing numbers 1-9 in a variety of activities and to reinforce early counting by sorting objects, and number formation practice.

Science finds us looking at animal needs and body parts.

Social studies takes another look at people in our community and their vocations.

Homework book log is due on Thursday.

Enjoy your week!

Mrs. Carol Brown
