We continue ITBS testing this week and plan to be done on Wednesday.  Our daily schedule has changed for those three days.  We are doing Math at 11, and we will not be going to computer lab.

Since we have two other tests to administer (see below), ixL Math will not be part of homework this week, but I do want to have Reading Logs completed.  Those will be due next Monday.  If your child does not have a set of washable markers or a blue or black pen for use at school (I would prefer the students use “true blue” pens, not turquoise), please purchase these items as soon as possible. Please remind your child to bring his or her recorder to school on Mondays and Wednesdays for Music class.  Finally, remember that no work packets are being sent home this week.

This week in Vocabulary we begin our study of unit four words.   The test will be next week.

In Spelling we are continuing our study of homophones, which is unit 5, pages 42-46.  We will write sentences this week, using each of the 20 words, and these will be due on Thursday.  Students may combine words in the same sentence, as long as the sentence makes sense!  The work in the book should be done by Thursday, and the unit test will be on Thursday.

In Grammar we are beginning our study of nouns, which is unit two.

In Math we continue chapter two, working on place value and at the end of the week we will begin collecting some data to be analyzed.

In Religion we will move forward in Unit Two, in which we learn more about our responsibility to follow in Jesus’ footsteps. We discuss our conscience and our need at times for God’s forgiveness through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

In Social Studies we are learning about the different weather and climate in various parts of our state (lesson 4).  We are also reviewing vocabulary that has been covered so far.

We conclude our study of ecosystems in Science, with our focus this week on reviewing for the chapter test, which will be on Friday.  We will be observing our “Water Worlds” regularly, checking on the location of our snails!

Reading groups continue in their chapter books: reading, discussing, and writing summaries.

Thank you for your continued support!
