This Friday is a half-day. Please sign and return your child’s progress report, if you have not done so yet, as well as the two field trip permission forms and the $20 fee. Our field trip has been rescheduled for February 28th.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

Religion: As we move on to chapter 13, we will be wrapping up Unit 3. We will have a Unit test next week.

Math: We continue our focus on multiplication. I would like students to complete ixL Math skills U 3, 4 and 5, which will be due next Monday.

Reading Workshop: We continue reading expository nonfiction selections. Students are to complete a reading log and have it signed for all reading done at home (20-30 minutes per day). Click here for the reading log, which will be due next Monday.ReadingLog

Writer’s Workshop: We continue working on our essays; we are now writing supporting stories to illustrate and make clearer each of our reasons for our theses.

Reading Fluency: It is fluency #22 this week; it will be due next Monday.

Spelling: Our focus is Unit 20, and we will have a test on Friday. Today students were to write their words twice in cursive, on binder paper, as well as printing the words in their planners. I will be checking for this work tomorrow.

Vocabulary: We continue our study of Unit 11 words; the test will be on Friday.

Grammar: We continue learning about the different forms of verbs.

Social Studies: We are finishing up work on Studies Weekly #12 and will turn our attention to #13. In computer lab we have accessed two websites with helpful information about the missions: www.californias-missions.org and www.missionscalifornia.com. As the date for the School Fair fast approaches (February 22nd!), I trust that all is going well with the mission projects. This week on Thursday we will begin working on the informational posters. Last Friday I sent home in an email a copy of the mission poster-planning sheet. I would like students to have answers for the eight questions by this Thursday, so that we can work on the posters in class. Click here for the planning sheet. mission planning sheet 2017

Science: We continue our study of rocks and minerals; tomorrow we will have a special presentation, “Rock “N” Roll”.

Thanking you for your continuing support,

Mrs. Mary Dwyer
