Dear Second Grade Families,
This is a busy week for second graders as we talk about Holy Week and Easter. Here’s a brief run down.
MONDAY: Speech finals for those chosen to compete from grades K-5. The six students from second grade are Zachary De Los Santos, Cameron Galvan, Jacob Merkord, Ani TamSing, Mark Richter, Renee Cafarelli.
TUESDAY: Second graders will attend a slow motion Mass celebrated by Father Bill. A study of the Mass goes along with First Communion preparation. Ask your child about this.
WEDNESDAY: $1.00 “Jeans for Japan” free dress with school appropriate denim. We will attend Mass as a school since there is no morning mass on Holy Thursday. There will also be an assembly for the speech winners at 10:30. Please join us if you can.
THURSDAY: April assembly at 11:00ish. We will celebrate April birthdays as well as burying a time capsule as part of the 30 year celebration. And there will be a 12:00 dismissal to begin the long awaited Easter vacation.
With First Holy Communion quickly approaching after our vacation, we will not be going to confession as a class. If your child would like to go to confession or if you think it is necessary, please refer to the Church bulletin and go as a family.

IN THE CLASSROOM…
RELIGION: Holy Week; we are getting ready for First Holy Communion by studying the Mass.
LANGUAGE ARTS: Reading for fluency and comprehension; creative writing; ABC order; Dictionary and Thesaurus work; poetry; Easter language arts; more cursive handwriting.
MATH: Adding and subtracting facts to 20; addition with regrouping; subtraction with and without regrouping.
Congratulations to a new Math Star… Cameron Galvan. Cameron completed 25 timed math tests.
SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES: Earth Day, Using the land and where our food comes from.
Have a good week. Have a blessed and holy Easter. Enjoy the days off spending time with friends and family. Make some memories.
Mrs. Danforth
