Dear Families of Second Graders,

This is another busy week for all students. Friday is Primary Centers (please contact Chris De Los Santos if you can help, babsis32@aol.com, or cell 805-850-5321), and a minimum day (dismissal at 12:00). Please remember to sign  (signature, not initials) all homework and the Homework Planner page.
The Tuesday folder will be given out at Back to School night as well as information about “Flat People”. Concerning the “Flat People” Project, please convey the importance of this project to the potential Flat Person host. It is also best if the Flat Person host is someone you will not be seeing on weekends or holidays. The host needs to be an adult friend or relative. We plan to begin this project soon with the help of our 7th grade buddies. Many other important items will be presented also.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT is Wednesday, August 31, 6:30 pm. The evening will begin in Biedermann Hall. See you then!

Here’s a look at our week…

RELIGION: Sign of the Cross.  Please help your child to treat the Sign of the Cross with reverence in words and actions.  Many times the motion seems to look like someone swatting flies.  We want to avoid that impression. Jesus is God’s best gift. God cares for His gifts, as each person is special.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  Short vowels a, i in spelling (spelling test will be Thursday) and phonics; sentence writing; handwriting practice; creative writing; rhyming; dictation; reading for comprehension and fluency.

MATH:   We will continue to work on addition facts through12, looking at order property (3+5 is the same as 5+3), counting on, the use of the number line, and doubles. We hope to also graph birthdays.

SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Groups and communities/ Plants.

Have a good week. See you on Wednesday.

Mrs. Danforth and Mrs. Vazquez
