Catholic Schools Week continues this week, following a wonderful Parents’ Day last Friday. We will celebrate your children on Wednesday; students will have free dress and a hamburger lunch will be provided free of charge (thank you, Mrs. Benner!). Please sign and return your child’s progress report, sent home last week, as well as the two field trip permission forms and the $20 fee. Our field trip has been rescheduled for February 28th.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

Religion: We are discussing the third commandment.

Math: We continue our focus on multiplication. I would like students to complete ixL Math skills D 8, 12 and 13, which will be due next Monday.

Reading Workshop: We continue reading expository nonfiction selections. Students are to complete a reading log and have it signed for all reading done at home (20-30 minutes per day). Click here for the reading log, which will be due next Monday. reading log

Writer’s Workshop: We continue our unit on Opinion/Essay writing by writing a thesis statement and three supporting reasons for our thesis.

Reading Fluency: It is fluency #21 this week; it will be due next Monday.

Spelling: Our focus is Unit 19, and we will have a test on Friday. Today students were to write their words twice in cursive, on binder paper, as well as printing the words in their planners. I will be checking this work tomorrow.

Vocabulary: We begin our study of Unit 11 words; the test will be next week.

Grammar: We continue learning about the different forms of verbs.

Social Studies: We continue with Studies Weekly #12, learning more about mission life. In computer lab we have accessed two websites with helpful information about the missions: www.californias-missions.org and www.missionscalifornia.com.

Remember, the mission project will be due on February 22nd.

Science: We begin our unit on Earth Science with a chapter on rocks and minerals. Students are encouraged to bring in rock and mineral samples over the next few weeks to share with their classmates.

Thanking you for your continuing support,

Mrs. Mary Dwyer
