We continue to collect boxes of cereal and candy for the Adopt-a-Family program, along with teddy bears, which we will present to Monsignor Fleming on Teddy Bear Day. In addition, we are gathering nonperishable food items in support of the St. Vincent de Paul Food Drive. Please place these items in the grocery bags sent home today with your children, and return them to the red bins outside of school by this Friday.

What we are working on this week

Religion: We begin our study of chapter 10, focusing upon the First Commandment.

Math: We continue our study of decimals in Unit 4. Students need to complete ixL skills U13, U14 and U15 by next Monday.

Spelling: We are working on Unit 14 words; the book pages need to be completed by Friday, and we will have a test on these words on Friday.

Grammar: We will begin Unit 3, which focuses upon verbs.

Vocabulary: This week we continue our study of Unit 7 words; we will have a test on the words on Friday. Students are making definition/synonym index cards for each of the 12 words.

Reading: Everyone continues to read book selections at their reading level. The reading log will be due next Monday (click here for a copy reading log fiction nonfiction) and Fluency Homework #13 will be due then as well.

Social Studies: This week we learn about the adventures of the different explorers who came to California. In preparation for the School Fair and our next big writing project, I need to know which mission each child has chosen to learn about.

Science: We are starting Unit B, learning about energy in ecosystems.

Thanking you for your continuing support,

Mrs. Mary Dwyer
