Dear Families,

I hope everyone had a peaceful weekend. There is a lot going on in the fifth grade this week!  This Wednesday is free dress in support of our cancer fundraiser.  For a donation of a dollar students may wear free dress.  This Friday is a noon dismissal for a faculty meeting.

Please make sure to check your student’s planner every night.  The students should be reviewing their notes for science and social studies every night. I have explained to the students that reviewing every night is much easier than trying to “cram” the night before a test.  Also, the class knows a week in advance of the next test and they also write it in their planner.

Below is an overview of our week.

Religion:  This week we will be focusing on students being able to locate, read, and understand stories from the bible.  Friday we will be going to mass with our buddies.

Math:   We will finish Chapter 3, which is all about multiplication. Our Chapter 3 test will be on Monday, November 22.

Science:  We will be learning about the Excretory System in Chapter 3.

Social Studies:  This week is our introduction to the Explorers.

English: We will continue our review of unit 5, which is on grammar. Our unit 5 test will be this Thursday.

Voc:  This week will be continuing with our cumulative study of units 1-4.

Spelling:  This week our spelling words are from unit 11.

Reading:  We will continue with our novel The Indian in the Cupboard.

Literature: We are starting the story “Papa’s Parrot”

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Ms. Carney
