November 22, 2010

Dear Families,

This is going to be a short week for us. Wednesday is a noon dismissal. Wednesday we will be going to our Thanksgiving Mass at 8:30. Please feel free to join us if you can.  The students will be sitting with their school families.

I hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving Holiday.

The fifth grade class has started a book club.  Please ask your child about this.  As a whole class we are really enjoying our book club.  It’s fantastic to see the students get so excited about reading.

Please make sure to check your student’s planner every night.  The students should be reviewing their notes for science and social studies every night. I have explained to the students that reviewing every night is much easier than trying to “cram” the night before a test.  Also, the class knows a week in advance of the next test and they also write it in their planner.

Below is an overview of our week.

Religion:  This week we will continue focusing on students being able to locate, read, and understand stories from the bible.

Math: Our Chapter 3 test will be on Monday, November 22.

Science:  We will start reviewing Chapter 3.

Social Studies:  We will continue with our study of the Explorers.

English: We will begin unit 9, which is on Mechanics.

Voc:  This week will be continuing with our cumulative study of units 1-4.

Spelling:  This week our spelling words are from unit 12.

Reading:  We will continue with our novel The Indian in the Cupboard.

Literature: We are starting the story “Papa’s Parrot”.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Ms. Carney
