November 29, 2010

Dear Families,

I hope everyone had a peaceful and restful Thanksgiving Holiday. Wednesday is a free dress day.  For a donation of one dollar students may wear cartoon themed free dress clothes. This Thursday is our Harvest of the Month with Mrs. Hoffman.   Friday is a noon dismissal. We will be going to First Friday Mass at 8:30. Please feel free to join us if you can.

The fifth grade class has started a book club.  Please ask your child about this.  As a whole class we are really enjoying our book club.  It’s fantastic to see the students get so excited about reading.

Please make sure to check your student’s planner every night.  The students should be reviewing their notes for science and social studies every night. I have explained to the students that reviewing every night is much easier than trying to “cram” the night before a test.  Also, the class knows a week in advance of the next test and they also write it in their planner.

Below is an overview of our week.

Religion:  Our focus will be the beginning of Advent.

Math: We will continue with chapter for which is all about division.

Science:  We be reviewing for our chapter 3 test and taking the test this Thursday.

Social Studies:  We will begin our study of Marco Polo.

English: We will continue with unit 9, which is on Mechanics.

Voc:  This week will be continuing with our cumulative study of units 1-4.

Spelling:  This week our spelling words are from unit 13.

Reading:  We will continue with our novel The Indian in the Cupboard.

Literature: We are starting the story “The Bracelet”.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Ms. Carney
