Dear Parents,                              October 28, 2012

This week, we will be taking a break from learning new content to review all that we have covered so far within first grade! Due to this there will not be new spelling words for the week either.

We are still working our way through Chapter 3 in math. This week we are working on subtraction and the different ways we can subtract.

In religion, we are continuing to get ready for the Saints Parade. A copy of your child’s Saint Report was given to the students to keep in their red folders. Please practice these four lines with your child every night so that he or she is ready for Friday! In addition, students are to arrive to school on Friday in their saint’s attire for the parade.

In science we are continuing our study of animals through lessons on nocturnal animals- this week we will focus on raccoons and moths.

In social studies we are reviewing what we learned last week (reading addresses and timelines) through in-class activities

Last week, I informed you of two of our class pets passing away. Sadly, Lexie also passed this week.

Reminders for the week:

  • Please remind your child to bring their library book to school Tuesday so that they may check out a new one.
  • Wednesday is a free dress day (no $1 required). Students are not to wear Halloween costumes but may wear Halloween themed items.
  • Wednesday we will be attending the 7th grade music show in the hall during the afternoon!
  • Friday is the Saints Parade and a half-day!

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.  Have a wonderful week and Happy Halloween!!

Miss Manning
