Hello Third Grade Families,

Smile! Wednesday is picture re-take day. If you’d like your child to take new pictures, please remember to bring the envelope with the first ones.

This week in class…

Math: This week we will begin Unit 3: Measurement by learning how to measure to the nearest half and quarter inch. This can be challenging for students who have never worked with quarter units, so I would highly encourage you to practice this at home.

For IXL homework this week, please complete the following Third Grade Skills…

BB.4 Which customary unit of length is appropriate?

BB.3 Measure using an inch ruler.

Reading: This week we continue learning about how to approach and tackle more complex texts.

Word Work: New words will go home on Tuesday. Our next spelling test will be on Friday.

Grammar: We’re back into the thick of Unit 2 combining our study of nouns with our practice finding the subjects of sentences, now identifying nouns within the subjects of sentences.

Science: Now that we know all about states of matter, this week becomes about the process of changing from one state to another whether it be through melting, evaporation or condensation.

Religion: This week the class will begin Chapter 3: We Are God’s Holy People. We will learn all about the lives of St. Francis and St. Clare.

Have a great week!

Ms. Espinosa
