Dear Third Grade Families,

Wednesday is another Free Dress Day. Please remember to bring $1 if your child plans to participate. All money collected will go directly to the Adopt-a-Family program.

Friday is a full day with Families in the afternoon. We will be observing Celebrate Writing Day – a national day of writing!

Math: In math this week, we move on from Chapter 3 to telling time. We will review telling time to the minute, quarter-hour, half-hour and hour as well as work on elapsed time problems. Likewise, we will touch upon the difference between AM and PM hours.

Science: We are moving further into Chapter 7 with a focus on the difference between elements, compounds and mixtures. On Tuesday, we will visit the science lab to study chemical changes.

Social Studies: Taking a closer look at our state, social studies finds us learning about fault lines and California’s diverse regions.

Language Arts: We will begin reading our new book, Bunnicula, on Monday! In spelling Unit 8, we are studying consonant clusters. In Language, we continue our study of nouns now looking at pronouns.

Religion: October is the month of the Rosary and next Wednesday we will be attending the Living Rosary at 2:00 in the church. Students are welcome and encouraged to bring their own Rosaries. I only ask that they do not bring one that is especially valuable. I also suggest that students who bring rosaries from home bring them in a small box or Ziploc bag so they do not get tangled or broken in backpacks or desks.
