Hello Third Grade Families!

Work packets are scheduled to go home on Tuesday. Please take a moment to go through your child’s work, reviewing and reinforcing key skills and concepts.

In class this week, we’ll be studying the following:

Math: We will begin the week with an exploration of the relationship between perimeter and diameter. Then, the class will begin Unit 4: Multiplication and Division!!! As always, I suggest using the Home Links at www.everydaymathonline.com for extra practice with skills learned in class. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.

Spelling: Click here to download this week’s spelling words. Our next spelling test will be this Friday.

Vocabulary: We will complete Unit 6 with a test on Friday. For a list of the words, definitions and additional practice go to the vocabulary workshop site. Instructions, along with a username and password, can be found taped on the inside cover of your child’s planner.

Reading: Library day is Thursday! Please remind your child to bring any books that are checked out so that they may be renewed or check back in.

English: The class will wrap up Unit 2 in our grammar books this week with Lesson 14: Possessive Nouns. Our Unit 2 is still scheduled for Tuesday, November 18th. Log on to the Grammar Workshop website for additional practice as well as interactive practice quizzes! Directions can be found in your child’s planner.

Science: We will continue Chapter 7, “Chemical Changes,” as well learn all about the difference between physical and chemical changes. Our next science test is tentatively scheduled for Thursday 11/13.

Social Studies: The class will wrap up Unit 1 and begin Unit 2: The People and their Environment. We will also learn all about Veteran’s Day, with a special look at service dogs and their roles in the lives of many veterans of the US armed forces.

Religion: The class will begin Chapter 3: We are God’s Holy People, focusing on the lives of St. Francis and St. Claire. To see even more of what we are learning, click here for the Study Guide.
