Dear Third Grade Parents and Families,

We’ve reached the half-way point in the second trimester. Can you believe it? This Tuesday, you will find your child’s Trimester 2 Progress Report in his/her Work Folder. This Report is reflective of all work completed since November 29th, 2010. As I often tell my students, there are no surprises. It simply reflects the work you regularly see sent home as well as that done in the classroom. As always though, you are welcome to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.

In more news, it has been recently announced that our school year is expanding to 200 days! This is an increase of 20 days from our current calendar of 180 school days per year. This change is planned to take place in all elementary schools within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as early as next year and is sure to increase student achievement. Be sure to look regularly for announcements as they are to come as we work on next year’s academic calendar.

As always, we have an action packed week ahead of us. Monday begins our Candy Gram sales. Each gram costs 50 cents and will be sent to a member of the military along with two pieces of candy. These sales will continue throughout this week and the next.

Tuesday is our library day. Please remind your child to bring in any books he or she may have at home so that a new one may be checked out.

On Thursday, we will enjoy January’s Harvest of the Month. We look forward to see what delicious fruit or veggie awaits us.

And finally, Friday is a short way with a 12:00 dismissal.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Espinosa
