Dear Third Grade Parents and Families,

Happy Valentine’s Day! Our class mailboxes were decorated Friday afternoon and are absolutely adorable. Now, we’re ready to fill them up with cards from our friends. Monday, we will celebrate with a variety of Valentine’s Day themed activities culminating in our class party. Thank you in advance to the Room Moms who put this together. The students have been looking forward to it for some time now and I’m sure a good time will be had by all.

This Wednesday the 16th, we will be going on our second field trip, this time to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and Planetarium. We will be joined by Ms. Carney’s fifth grade class as well. Please be sure that your child arrives at school on time and in his/her uniform. Likewise, students should bring a sack lunch. At the request of the Museum of Natural History, students should pack a “no trash lunch.” This consists of a reusable lunch box containing food in reusable containers. As a reminder, juice boxes, plastic baggies and pre-packaged snack packs have a tremendous cumulative effect on our environment. It is our job to take care of this amazing planet God has created for us. In the words of the museum staff, “The whole planet depends on our actions and when informed, we should try to make the right choices and decisions for our community.”  Also, we will be expected to haul out any and all trash we have and take it back to our school. I’d like to minimize this as much as possible.

Finally, Friday, February 18th and Monday, February 21st are holidays. School will not be in session in observance of President’s Day. Enjoy the long weekend!

Best,

Mrs. Espinosa
