Dear Parents,                             May 29, 2012

We have an exciting week ahead of us! Wednesday we will be headed to the Santa Barbara Zoo, Thursday we will watch the 8th grade powder puff game, and Friday we will have In-n-Out lunch!

We have completed all of our Language Art Themes for first grade! Woo-Hoo! We will review all reading strategies, comprehension skills, grammar, and phonics we have learned thus far, within the last 20 days of the school year! As we continue to review the spelling words we have learned in first grade, don’t forget to practice using Spellingcity.com!

In math, we will be pressing on, focusing on doubles and doubles plus one. Double facts are numbers that are the same, added together (6+6=12, 7+7=14, etc.). Knowing our double facts lays the foundation for adding beyond 10. We will continue with our review of animals, their environments, needs, and structures as begin to prepare for our final field trip to the zoo. In religion, we will focus on how the Holy Spirit Helps the Church.

Announcements for the week:

  • Please remind your student to bring their library book on Tuesday so that they may check out another one.
  • Water bottle sales continue on Tuesday and Thursday for $1.
  • Wednesday is our field trip to the Santa Barbara Zoo!! Remember your student is to wear jeans/shorts and their school polo. Also make sure your student brings a sack lunch as we will not be back for hot lunch nor will we be able to purchase food at the zoo.
  • Full day on Friday and In-n-Out Lunch!

Have a fantastic week!
