Hello Third Grade Families,

This week the class will go on our second field trip of the year! On Wednesday, we will be leaving first thing in the morning to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. We will be eating lunch at the Museum and are required to carry out our own trash, so I ask that students pack a sack lunch in a disposable (preferably ziplock or other plastic, non-leaking) bag with your child’s name clearly written on the front. Finally all students should wear their uniforms and comfortable shoes for this special outing.

In class…

Math: We will continue Unit 6 – geometry! In class, we hope to cover lessons 6.8, 6.9 and 6.10. As always, see the Home Links at www.everydaymathonline.com for extra practice. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.

For IXL this week, students are to complete the following third grade skills:

F.4 Multiply by 3

H.3 Divide by 3

R.5 Symmetry

Spelling: Click here for this week’s spelling words & pattern.

Vocabulary: We will complete Unit 12. Our next vocabulary quiz will be this Friday.

Reading: New titles of books to purchase for the following two units have been e-mailed. Please have these books in by next Monday so that your child can participate in his/her reading group.

There will be no reading log this week. Instead, students should use their time to prepare for the School Fair next week.

Science: The annual Sacred Heart School Fair is rapidly approaching. All projects are due in class next Tuesday, the day we plan to set them up in the Hall. Please do not send these in any earlier as combined they take up a fair amount of classroom space. I look forward to seeing these solar system projects. Until then, be creative and have fun with it!

Social Studies: We will learn all about early explorers (and do some exploring ourselves) at the Museum!

Religion: This week we will learn all about the season of Lent.

Best,

Mrs. Espinosa
