Hello Third Grade Families,

Please mark your calendars for the events below:

We will have PE on MONDAY & TUESDAY this week. Plan to wear PE uniforms on these days.

Music will be on WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY. Plan to wear regular uniforms for this.

Continuing with this month’s Read Across America activities, Wednesday is “Fox in Socks” Day. Students should plan to wear a pair of crazy socks with their regular uniforms.

Finally, Tuesday, April 4th is the last day to place your order for Dippin’ Dots & In-N-Out. Tickets will not be sold on that Friday 4/7, as they are only available by pre-order. Since this special event falls on a Friday during Lent, orders for grilled cheese sandwiches will be available in addition to burgers.

In class…

Math: We will continue with Unit 8, exploring fractions on number lines as well as working with equivalent fractions.

IXL Homework:

W. 17,

W. 18

& W. 19

Reading: Read Across America continues for just one more week! Students in third grade will continue to receive 1 ticket for every 20 minutes recorded in their reading logs, so make sure to fill these out neatly and regularly as you read. Note: Students are required to read a minimum of 100 minutes each week.

The third grade students are doing a FANTASTIC job in Reader’s Workshop! Our research clubs continue working together as we learn all about ants, spiders, dolphins, whales & sharks.

Word Work: This week’s words can be found in your child’s planner. As a reminder, groups periodically keep the same sort for more than one week. This allows for extra practice on especially challenging word sets. Our next spelling test is scheduled for Friday.

Writer’s Workshop: This week marks the beginning of our next unit: opinion writing!

Grammar: We continue our unit on adjectives with Lesson 28: Comparing with Adjectives.

Science: The class will complete our unit on Organisms of Long Ago with a comparison of extinct and modern animals.

Religion: The class will begin Chapter 11. Wednesday afternoon we go again to Stations of the Cross in the Church. As always, all are welcome to join us if your schedule permits.

Have a great week!

Ms. Espinosa
