Dear Third Grade Families,

I hope everyone got a lot of rest (and stayed dry) during the three-day weekend. This week we will continue our Lenten journey toward Easter beginning with Stations of the Cross Monday afternoon. From here on out, Stations will be on Wednesdays at 2:00. Of course, all parents are welcome to join us. Our class also continues to say a decade of the rosary every day in accordance with our class promise for Lent. For the past two weeks, students have used the rosaries I have provided in class. However, should anyone prefer, students are welcome to bring rosaries from home, too. Either one is fine.

Tuesday is library day. Please remember to send your child with his/her books so that new ones may be checked out.

Following this, Wednesday is a free dress day with all money going to the relief effort in Japan. Students are welcome to be as generous as they’d like in order to help this very worthy cause. Wednesday afternoon we will also go into the Hall to watch the middle school talent show. The students have been working very hard, so we look forward to the show.

Finally, Friday is Grandparents day. Much like parents day, grandparents are welcome to join us in mass followed by a brief reception and then into class as we work on a language arts lesson and complete a Spring craft.

You may have noticed that this week’s homework is a little different. We will not have DLR or a practice spelling page. Instead, we have a Night Sky Log where students are to track their observations of the moon for a week. Students also took home packets with further details on this year’s SHS speech contest. Of course, we still have Accelerated Math, Reading Logs and spelling words. We will be taking our spelling test this week on Thursday due to Grandparent’s Day on Friday.
