Hello Third Grade Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday. This week we are back in action, although with a somewhat abbreviated curriculum since we are operating on a shorter schedule than normal.

Don’t forget that on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday there will be 11:30 dismissals to make time for parent conferences. If you need to reschedule your appointment, please contact the Office directly as Mrs. Hahn maintains the master schedule.

This week we’ll be studying the following:

Math: The class will continue with Unit 4 (Multiplication & Division) covering lessons 4.3, 4.4 and 4.5. As always, I encourage you to follow along with us by completing the Home Links at www.everydaymathonline.com. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.

For IXL math homework, please complete the following Third Grade skills:

E.1 Multiplication Sentences

F. 2 Multiply by 1

F.3 Multiply by 2

Spelling: Click here to download this week’s spelling words and pattern/principle.

Vocabulary: This week we will begin Unit 8. The words, definitions and practice exercises are available at the Vocabulary Workshop website. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.

Reading: The class will continue reading and discussing books from our leveled library in small groups. Our next books will be Tea With Milk and Emma’s Rug, both by Allan Say.

English: The class will review Unit 2, completing the Unit with a grammar test on Thursday. As a reminder, students access is available on the Grammar Workshop website! Here you will find opportunities for additional practice, games & activities and interactive practice quizzes. Give it a try! Directions have been attached to your child’s planner. Note: Your child will need to bring his/her grammar book home in order to type in the Student Access Code.

Science: In class we will continue Chapter 8, Lesson 3: “Waves.”

Social Studies: We will learn about California American Indians and the U.S. Government.

Religion: Our Saint of the Month is St. Nicholas! We will begin Chapter 11, “God Sent Us His Only Son” in preparation for Christmas. Click here for the Study Guide.

Best,

Mrs. Espinosa
