Third Grade Families,

As many know, Ms. Espinosa is expecting Henry’s arrival very soon and she has decided to begin her maternity leave. I, Miss Poindexter, will teach third grade for the remainder of the school year! I am so honored and excited to finish off the year with your children!

Here are some important dates for this week:

TUESDAY, April 4th: In-N-Out/Dippin’ Dots money orders were due. Tickets will not be sold on that Friday, as they are only available by pre-order. Family Envelopes will also be sent home today.

WEDNESDAY, April 5th: Stations of the Cross at 1:50 PM.

FRIDAY, April 7th is a full day, as well as In-N-Out & Dippin’ Dots! Families are welcome to enjoy lunch with their students. Lawn chairs and picnic blankets are welcome, too!

Note: Our class competition for our Poetry Contest will be held on April 10th-13th. One prop or costume item is allowed. Please make sure the poems are practiced and recited with enthusiasm!

A look into our week…

Math: Our class will continue with Unit 8, fractions. This week we will be focusing on fractions on a number line, the comparison of fractions, and equivalent fractions.

IXL Homework:

W.9

W.12

& X.3

Reading: We are working in our research clubs this week. Our groups received new animals to research and they are doing an excellent job of working hard and learning together! At the end of our unit, our research clubs will complete a compare and contrast project between their two animals.

Word Work: This week’s words can be found in your child’s planner. Our next spelling test is scheduled for next Tuesday.

Writer’s Workshop: This week we are working on opinion writing. Our class is working extremely hard on writing a convincing speech to Mrs. Benner. She will be coming into our class this week to give us a shot at convincing her of an exciting topic! Wish us luck!

Grammar: We continue our unit on adjectives with Lesson 29: More comparing with Adjectives.

Science: The class will begin Unit 4 on Our Solar System. This week we are learning about telescopes.

Social Studies: We continue on with Unit 4: U.S. Government. This week we will get ourselves familiar with the Three Levels of Government.

Religion: The class will begin Chapter 11: God Sent His Son Jesus to Live Among Us. Wednesday afternoon we end our day with Stations of the Cross in the Church.

Thank you for your support!

Miss Poindexter
