Dear Third Grade Families,

This Wednesday we will be wearing “Jeans for Japan.” On this day, students may enjoy free dress with jeans for $1 (or more) with every dollar collected going toward relief efforts for those impacted by the tsunami and earthquake in Japan. On this day, our class will also be joining 4th and 5th grades in the library for a reader’s theater performance by senior citizen volunteers. And if that wasn’t enough, Wednesday at 2:00 is our next scheduled Stations of the Cross. As always, parents and family members are welcome to join us.

Tuesday is our regularly scheduled library day. Please remind your child to bring his/her books so that new ones may be checked out (and no fines will be incurred).

On Friday afternoon, students will be joining their “families” to make festive Spring bunny ears as well as placemats for the weekly Lenten soup.

This week we will be transitioning from geometry to fractions and decimals in math. In Science, we will also be moving from Earth to the Physical sciences with a focus on the states of matter. We will continue our study of Chumash communications with Chumash legends (oral storytelling) and ending the week with rock painting (art). In Language Arts, we will continue our study of alternative versions of traditional fairy tales, as well as begin a brief unit on suffixes and the proper use of quotation marks.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Espinosa
