Dear Parents,                     November 10, 2014

I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend!

This week in first grade, we will be learning…

Language Arts: We will be taking what little time we have for Language Arts this week to build our background of colonial life. We will discuss a number of aspects of colonial life and compare them to ours! This will be fantastic foundation for our upcoming Thanksgiving play.

Spelling: As we are in a review week, there are no new spelling words! Please take this week to have your child review the units we have discussed through activities on spellingcity.com!

Math: We are continuing with Unit 4: Measurement and Basic Facts. This week we will be learning about inches and the 6-inch ruler!

Religion: The students did a fantastic job in the Saints Parade on Friday! We will be able to slow down this week with a school wide religion project and a visit from our 8th graders and their saint presentations.

Social Studies: We will officially begin our Readers Theatre Thanksgiving Play! We will perform on Wednesday November 26 at 11:15am in the classroom. We hope to see you there!

Homework for the Week:

  • Wednesday: Math Worksheet
  • Thursday: Math Worksheet
  • Friday: Read 2 times!

Reminders for the Week:

  • Thursday we will be having a flag retirement ceremony. Please join us at 11am in the quad if your schedule permits.

  • Our next Primary Centers is on November 21. If you are interested in volunteering please email me.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.  Have a fantastic week!
