Hello Third Grade Families,

Our last field trip is just around the corner! First thing Wednesday morning we will depart for Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark. Please remember to pack a sack lunch (preferably in disposable containers so we don’t have to carry it back to school). Students should also be sure to wear their uniforms and comfortable shoes. Finally, don’t forget to apply sunscreen, as we’ll be outdoors for the duration of the day.

This week in class…

Math: This week and next the class will begin to wrap up the year with a lengthy review of all that we’ve covered in the third grade. There will be no IXL math homework this week.

Reading: The class will continue to read and explore leveled fiction and non-fiction texts in small reading groups.

There will be no reading homework this week either. Instead, students are encouraged to enjoy a good book at their own pace.

Spelling: We will spend this week reviewing Units 31-35. Don’t forget that the words for every unit are available on www.spellingcity.com. Here you can find fun games and an interactive online practice test. We will not have a spelling test for this Unit.

Vocabulary: This week we will complete our final Unit, #18! Go to the Vocabulary Workshop website for words and definitions. Login information can be found in your child’s planner.

Grammar: We plan to continue with Unit 6: Capitalization, Punctuation and Spelling.

Science: We will take a peek at Chapter 3: Organisms of Long Ago. In the lab, we will make fossils!

Religion: The class will continue Chapter 18 “The Holy Spirit Helps God’s People.”

Best,

Mrs. Espinosa
