Dear Parents,                          August 22, 2016

Welcome Back to School…and to First Grade! I am beyond excited to start the school year with your students. And what an accomplishment we have already! We made it through the first full day! We are getting used to a lot of routines in first grade but we are also beginning our content.

Language Arts: We have officially started our Readers Workshop and our Writers Workshop! As we dive in, we will be focusing a lot on routine for this week. We will begin our Language Arts homework next week.

Math: This week, we start our math lessons by learning about number lines, how to compare numbers, and “one more”/ “one less” number stories. Our first homework assignment will be coming home soon!

Science/Social Studies: We will be introducing our textbooks and looking at our first vocabulary words!

Religion: This week we begin our Religion series with our first chapter: Jesus is Our Friend.

Reminders for the Week:

• PE Uniforms on Tuesday and Thursday!
• Back to School Night is on Wednesday at 6:30pm.
• Friday is a full day!
