Hello 3rd Grade Families,
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! Many thanks for being such a great class. It is a pleasure working with you each and every day.
Teddy Bear Day is just around the corner. Try and bring in a new teddy bear any time between now and December 5th. All will be donated to families participating in the Adopt-a-Family program.
Immediately upon our return from the Thanksgiving holiday, the St. Vincent de Paul food drive will begin. Grocery bags will be given out soon & we ask that you fill them with non-perishable foods for hungry families here in Ventura County.
This week in class…
Math: Unit 4 — The class continues to work on beginning multiplication and division concepts, focusing on what it means to do either and how the two are related. Students are learning their 0s, 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s facts. Please begin to practice these at home. Automaticity will be the end-of-year goal.
No math homework this week. Instead, just relax and count up all the family and friends we are thankful for in our lives.
Reading: There will be no fluency or reading log homework this week as well. Instead, cozy up with a good book at your leisure.
Word Work: Our spelling test is scheduled for Wednesday. For many, last week’s words were especially challenging so we gave everyone a little extra time. Remaining one step ahead, we will write next weeks words in our planners on Wednesday.
Grammar: The students will finish Unit 2: Nouns. Feel free to use the Grammar Workshop site for extra practice and reinforcement. The Unit 2 grammar test is currently planned for Thursday, December 1st.
Science: Mr. Rzasa is back for another lab! This time we will be making elephant toothpaste.
Social Studies: All about Thanksgiving!
Religion: The class will continue Chapter 6, now turning our attention to the mysteries of our faith. Wednesday morning is our annual school Thanksgiving mass. Feel free to join us in the church at 8:30 if your schedule permits.
Have a great holiday!
Ms. Espinosa
