The 2011-2012 Staff Roster is similar to this year’s with a few adjustments. Changes occur in second grade, the library, and among the aides & EDC staff. Christina Danforth will continue to teach second grade but for one half of each school week. She will also work as a resource teacher and prepare school liturgies throughout the coming school year. Veronica Perez-Vazquez, a credentialed teacher who works as an aide this year, will teach second grade for one half of each school week in 2011-2012. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development and her Credential from CSU Los Angeles. She has taught kindergarten, 1st & 3rd grade in the Duarte & Santa Paula Unified School Districts. Anna Mora, the force behind the transformation of our library into the 21st century, feels the call of her home and family. Michelle Salomon, a school parent and longtime active volunteer, will oversee the library in 2011-2012. Katherine Manning, a 2010 recipient of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Loyola Marymount University who works as an aide this year, will return to LMU to acquire a California Credential and Master of Arts degree in Education. While she continues her education, she will work at Sacred Heart School as a resource teacher. Kaitlyn Poindexter, a two-year member and Brenda Mendez Alvarez, a one-year member of the EDC staff while both were at Ventura College, leave to continue their education; Kaitlyn at CSU Fresno and Brenda at Cal Poly, Pomona. Elida Espinosa arrived daily at 6:30a for EDC but plans to do other work next school year. Since attendance is low or non-existent on most early mornings, we will not continue with this part of EDC in 2011-2012. All other positions for 2011-12 remain the same. The roster will be on the school website by Wednesday, June 15. We thank Anna Mora, Kaitlyn Poindexter, Brenda Mendez Alvarez, and Elida Espinosa for their contributions and welcome Veronica Perez-Vazquez, Katherine Manning, and Michelle Salomon to their new roles.

Education at Sacred Heart School is centered in Christ and is concerned with the development of the whole child. We are committed to helping students grow in trust and devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as well as to helping them grow in the spirit of prayer, service and leadership in the Christian community. Sacred Heart School cooperates with and assists the parents or legal guardians, who are the primary educators of their children. Along with teaching Catholic dogma, doctrine, and morals, Sacred Heart School maintains a strong, innovative curriculum. It is our goal to promote a school atmosphere that is enlivened by Gospel values, intellectual proficiency, and self-esteem.
