Second Grade Families-
We have a busy next two weeks preparing for our First Communion. Please make sure you do not have any appointments scheduled next week in the afternoon. We spend time in church rehearsing for First Communion in the afternoon. We will begin this Thursday.
Homework
Parent Homework: Reminder to turn in your LOVE LETTER to school by Thursday, April 26th. I have also sent the flyer regarding pictures with your child last week. If you need another copy, please send me an email or note.
Math IXL: H.6 and W.1 Please provide your child with a paper and pencil or whiteboard to work out the problems on W.1.

Spelling Test on Friday
Practice Poem: I will be having them recite daily. Thursday will be the day I choose the 5 finalists. I have reminded the students that we compete with Third Grade. Students will be judged on the following: eye contact, artistic arrangement, expression, projection, enunciation, and poise. Good Luck!
A PEEK at our ACADEMIC WEEK
Religion: We continue learning parts of the Mass. We begin decorating our First Communion banners. I will be assigning their participation in First Communion Mass on Friday. Please make sure to check their homework folders to practice their readings at home. A reminder that not all students will be reading but all will participate in Mass.
Language Arts
Reading : We will especially focus on fluency with our poem books. We are working on fluency by practicing character voices when we see dialogue tags (quotation marks).
Spelling: Students will take their spelling test on Friday.
Writing: Informative Writing
Math: We will learn about mode and median.
Science: We are learning about Rocks/Minerals. Kids are loving this unit.
Social Studies: Learning about being a Good Citizen. Vocabulary: vote, government, mayor, and freedom

May 18th: In-N-Out and Dippin’ Dots fundraiser…Don’t forget to purchase you tickets. $5 (hamburger, chips, and a drink).
