Dearest Second Grade Parents,
As we are busy getting ready for the holidays, I hope you all had a little time to spend with each other this weekend. Our Christmas Program will be on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. We will have a rehearsal at 1:30 on Wednesday. Our room parents are preparing for our Christmas celebration on Friday.
Tuesday and Thursday: P.E.
Wednesday: Free Dress $1.00 donation
Thursday is the last day to donate to the P.A.L. program. We are asking for healthy drinks to be donated. Please bring water, propel, Gatorade etc. on Thursday to donate to the P.A.L. program. J
Friday: “Free, Free” Dress ; classroom celebrations

Here is a look at our week.
Homework: I will only require the reading log this week. Students must turn in reading log on Friday. Children will not be required to read for Wednesday night since we have our Christmas Program. 🙂
Language Arts:
Writing: Last week, I two stamps to mail out our letter and a Christmas Card. If you have not sent in your stamps, please do so ASAP. We will be sending our Christmas Card on Friday.
Reading: We will be reading a few Christmas books such as The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Baby, The Gingerbread Girl. We will finish comparing and contrasting the character and setting in the stories. We will also discuss details.
Boxcar Children: We continue to read BoxCar Children. The children are enjoying the series. You could hear a pin drop in the classroom while I’m reading. Our focus is on retelling/main idea of the chapters and details. We discuss each chapter in detail with follow up questions. We will not finish BoxCar Children until January.
Spelling/Grammar: No new spelling words this week. This week we will review spelling patterns we have learned and play “sparkle”. We will fix sentences (capitalization, punctuation, past tense, apostrophes). Making words with CHRISTMAS!
Math: We will be working on 3.5-3.7. We will also work on collecting data a tally table and bar graph using a picture graph.
Religion: Advent & Christmas : Chapter 7 Honest, Truthful; We continue to discuss commandments 5-8 (being kind, being respectful, being honest, being truthful).
Science: We will review positional words.
Social Studies: We will continue reading letter from Flat Hosts
