Dear Second Grade Families,
I cannot believe we are on our last week of our 1st trimester. We will be tying up some loose ends these next couple of days.
A little reminder, Teddy Bear Day is around the corner. Donate a Bear on “Teddy Bear Day” for Adopt-a-Family on Tuesday,December 2nd.(If you are out and about shopping these next few days, remember to purchase a teddy bear.) You may send in the teddy bear with the tag on as soon as you have purchased the teddy bear. This will remind and encourage others to do the same.
Flat Students: Today we had LOTS of mail!!!! Most students have received mail these last couple of weeks but not all students have received a letter. If your child has not received mail, please contact your child’s flat host to encourage them to send a letter to your child. I will be sending a little reminder email to the host families by the end of this week.
Academic Overview:
Homework: IXL (K.1), READING LOG (We will start a new reading log after Thankgiving), Fluency, Study for spelling (3 assignments are on spelling city)
Religion: We will begin Chapter 6. We will learn about the first three commandments. We will begin to write a Thanksgiving Prayer.
LANGUAGE ARTS:
Reading: We will finish theme 2 this week with our last story, Around the Pond: Who’s Been Here? We will be comprehension focus will be on categorizing and classifying.Our strategy focus will be monitor and clarify.
Spelling: Unit 13: Long a using ay, ai and CVCe
MATH: Unit 3 We will work on 3.3-3.6.
Reminders:
Tuesday and Thursday: P.E.
Wednesday: LIBRARY BOOKS DUE!
Friday: Noon Dismissal
PRIMARY CENTER on November 21st. There are only 2 spots left to help out in second grade. Please send an email if you are interested.
SERVICE HOUR OPPORTUNITY: Please let me know if you are interested in taking home a project to put together for our second grade children. I will have it ready to go on Friday. It entails placing tape on craft sticks. I may need two volunteers.
