- math: This week we will begin our new unit on measurement! This week we will work on measuring objects to the nearest inch, 1/2 inch, and 1/4 inch.
- reading: In our non-fiction reading this week, we will talk and think about a text while also beginning to separate our perspective on a topic from the perspective of the text we are reading. Sometimes, when author’s write non-fiction books, they have an opinion that may be different from the reader’s opinion. We will work on distinguishing our own opinion from that of the author.
- writing: We continue organizing our ideas before we draft. In our informational writing, we will begin researching the topics we are experts in. Although we already know a lot about our topics, it is good to read up on that topic in order to gather as much information as possible before drafting.
- word work: We continue practicing our spelling patterns in small groups. Word lists can be found in your child’s planner from last week. We are all using the same words from last week due to the short week. Spelling tests are scheduled for this Friday.
This Friday, we will get to watch our 4-8th grade friends compete in the school-wide Spelling Bee!
- religion: We will discuss how God is holy & great. We will focus on how our holy God is everywhere, especially with us, and knows all things.
- science: In this science unit, we will explore the water cycle & phases of matter, as we dive into the mystery question, where do clouds come from?
Have a wonderful week!
