Sneak peek to our academic week
Math: This week we wrap up Unit 3 on area & perimeter. Our Unit 3 math test is scheduled for this Wednesday. Study guides will be completed in class and sent home on Tuesday night to study.
Reading: We have launched our non-fiction reading unit! This week we will preview nonfiction, discussing strategies to get our minds ready for nonfiction work. Then, we will discuss the structure within non-fiction texts. This structure allows for us to pause along the way to summarize important information.
Writing: Information Writing! This week we continue to study mentor texts in order to elaborate our writing. Then, we will work on how to make connections within the chapters of our own writing pieces.
Word Work: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner and on spellingcity.com. Spelling tests are scheduled for this Thursday.
Religion: We have begun chapter 8, where we discuss how God is Great and Holy.
Science: This week we will discuss animal traits, learning about why the male looks different from the female in some bird species, as we explore the mystery, “What’s that red thing on a turkey?”
Have a great week!
Blessings,
Miss Poindexter
