Sneak Peek to our Academic Week
math: On Monday we will review for our unit 1 math test. This Tuesday we will take our first math test of third grade! Mid week we will begin unit 2, working on fact families and basic math fact extensions. Example: 2 + 3= 5 & 20+30=50.
reading: This week we will focus on making higher-level predictions as we work to use specific details from our books to make solid predictions.
writing: In our narrative writing, we will continue to draft. As we do that, we will look for ways to revise our pieces by asking ourselves, “what is the most important part of this story?” and develop that section!
word work: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner and on Vocabulary A-Z. Our spelling test is scheduled for this Friday.
religion: In our next chapter, we will discuss how we are God’s holy people, understanding that God calls us to be holy. Our chapter 3 religion quiz is scheduled for this Thursday.
science: This week in science we continue with the topic of dinosaurs. We will further investigate the mystery, “Can you outrun a dinosaur?” We will learn how dinosaurs didn’t just leave behind bones, they also left footprints, some of which fossilized.
social studies: Through reading and our interactive journals, we will identify and describe the four regions of California.
Have a great week!
Blessings,
Miss Poindexter
