Sneak Peek of our Academic Week
math: We have officially wrapped up our multiplication and division math unit. This week we jump into measurement. In this unit, we will explore different units of measurement. Then, we will spend a good amount of time becoming familiar with finding the area and perimeter of shapes.
reading: In our NEW class read-aloud this week, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, we will dig deep and analyze the two main characters, Abilene and Edward.
In our small, differentiated reading groups, we continue practicing all reading skills at our levels using novel studies, close reading, and fluency.
writing: This week we begin our new writing unit, Informational Reports! We will spend this first week becoming familiar with what Informational Reports entail. Informational Reports are where experts share facts about a topic. Then, we will begin to practice some strategies to narrow in on the topic we want to write about!
word work: We continue on with Words Their Way! This is our differentiated spelling program where we focus on spelling patterns to help us become the best spellers we can be! Spelling words can be found on Vocabulary A-Z + in your child’s planner. It’s always great to practice these throughout the week!
religion: This week is all about The Epiphany! We will recall the visit of the three Wise Men to baby Jesus. Then, we will learn all about the Baptism of Our Lord.
We will be attending 8:30a mass this Friday! Please come join us if your schedule allows!
social studies: All about Martin Luther King Jr, his life, and legacy.
