Sneak Peek To Our Academic Week
math: This week we wrap up Unit 2. Our math test is scheduled for this Tuesday. Soon after, we will jump right into multiplication and division! This being a brand new third-grade topic, we will spend time learning the foundational skills of multiplication and division to understand what it means to multiply and divide. To do this, we will first work with equal groups and arrays.
reading: In our class read-aloud, The Wild Robot, we will work on our comprehension and prediction skills. This week we will give our focus on finding text evidence when writing book responses.
writing: This week we continue working on our personal narrative writing pieces. This week is all about dialogue. Using dialogue and other character speech helps readers to better understand our story and feel like they were there!
We will also wrap up our spooky writing! Our class had a lot of fun writing a real estate listing to a haunted house. This week, we will wrap up our work and have fun with a Haunted House Selling Fair, where we will try to convince our classmates to purchase our haunted homes!
religion: This week, we will give our focus to The Sacrament of Matrimony. What is this Sacrament? How does God help us through this sacrament? We will discuss its meaning, discover the symbols that represent it, and find Bible verses that align to it.
This week we will begin discussing The Ten Commandments as well!
word work: We continue on with Words Their Way! This is a differentiated spelling program that allows our students to learn phonics, vocabulary, and spelling. It’s a hands-on approach to use word study to help us become better spellers. New spelling words will be written in your child’s planner every Monday.
science: This week, in our forces and motion unit, we will study gravity.
art: In our intermediate centers this Friday, we will work on an awesome Dia De Los Muertos art piece!
Have a wonderful week!
Blessings,
Miss Poindexter
