Third grade families,
Welcome back!
I am so happy that we are all together again. During these times, we continue to pray for those affected and suffering from loss due to the Mountain fire. We are blessed for safety and ask our Lord to grant protection to families and all hereos who are battling this for us.
Our school’s Fall Showcase & Sweets and Saints Parade is this Friday! We will be showcasing some awesome art we’ve completed this Fall. Please come by if your schedule allows. As family envelopes go out on Tuesday, we hope you can make purchases for some yummy sweets to pick up at the Fall Showcase–a delicious way to support our wonderful school!

Sneak Peek To Our Academic Week
math: This week we wrap up our multiplication and division unit. Next, we jump into measurement! This week we will zoom in on measurement with a ruler; working on measuring to the nearest inch, 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch.
reading: In our class read-aloud, The Wild Robot, we continue to practice our questioning and comprehension skills. Each group works through a specific novel in our small, guided reading groups. During this small group time this week, we are working on point of view.
writing: We continue to work on adding detail to our personal narrative. To do this, we are working with the Show, Don’t Tell skill. With this skill, we do not want to just tell our reader what is happening, but show them by incorporating detail that allows them to think, feel, see, and hear as if they were there!
religion: This week we wrap up our unit on the 7 sacraments. In small groups, we will reflect on all 7 Sacraments with a mini-project to showcase all we learned.
We will be attending 8:30 am mass this Friday. Please join us if your schedule allows!
SHS will also be attending the 9am Mass this Sunday! We would love to see you and your families there.
word work: We continue on with Words Their Way! This is a differentiated spelling program that allows our students to learn phonics, vocabulary, and spelling. It’s a hands-on approach to use word study to help us become better spellers. New spelling words will be written in your child’s planner every Monday.
art: We will be working on some fall art this week. Our beautiful art will be displayed at our Fall Showcase this Friday!
