Sneak Peek of our Academic Week
math: We continue with our geometry unit. We will continue to explore the different types of triangles, measure and identify angles, and find symmetry in objects! In the above picture, we spent time using straws and ties to build the different types of triangles; right triangles, obtuse, isosceles, etc!
reading: We have started our new read-aloud, Because of Winn Dixie! This week as we work to become familiar with the novel, we will work on making predictions and discover the character traits of the main character, Opal. Not only should we identify character traits, but we also must use text evidence to prove the traits.
writing: This week tidy up our Informational Reports and publish our hard work! Then, we will work on our Best Part of Me Project. In this project aimed towards self-awareness and positivity, we chose the best parts of us and wrote all about them. We are excited to show you this project on Friday!
word work: We continue on with Words Their Way! This is our differentiated spelling program where we focus on spelling patterns to help us become the best spellers we can be. Spelling words can be found on Vocabulary A-Z + in your child’s planner. It’s always great to practice these throughout the week.
religion: This week we check in on each other during this Lenten season. How can we continue to grow closer to Jesus during this time?
Each Wednesday leading up to Lent, at 1:50 PM, we will be attending Stations of the Cross as a school. Please join if your schedule allows!
science: We have worked to research and become experts in a chosen planet from our solar system. This week we will publish our planet reports and complete an art project to accompany the report. Come see our work at the showcase!
Have a wonderful week!
Blessings,
Miss Poindexter
