We are FAST approaching May and…SO many fun things coming up!

This week we have a Color Run Spirit Week! Our Middle School friends will come into our classrooms each morning to complete a different color activity with us. Each day has its own colored theme, so fun!

Sneak Peek of our Academic Week

math: Fractions, fractions, fractions! This week we will work to compare and find equivalent fractions using area models and number lines.

reading: We begin our last and final reading unit…Animal Research Clubs! This is an exciting reading unit where we work in collaborative groups. Together, we read about, research, and learn so much about specific animals. It is an ongoing project where students work together to research and complete a final project together.

writing: In our opinion writing pieces, we will think about our word choice. Opinion writing pieces are written in strong and bold ways. This week we will work to choose good words to make sure we are expressing BOLD opinions!

grammar: Our focus is on capitalizing titles.

word work: We continue on with Words Their Way! This is our differentiated spelling program where we focus on spelling patterns to help us become the best spellers we can be. Spelling words can be found on Vocabulary A-Z + in your child’s planner. It’s always great to practice these throughout the week.

religion: We are almost in May, which means we are learning so much about our Queen of Heaven, Mary. We will also spend this week preparing the beginning stages of our May Crowning on May 22nd!

science and social studies: We are pausing our science and social studies this week to make time to complete some art activities for the Color Run!
