Sneak Peek To Our Academic Week
math: This week we wrap up Unit 1 and take our test on Tuesday, October 1st. Then, we step into Unit 2! We will become familiar with fact families and fact extensions this week.
reading: We continue with our class read-aloud, Third Grade Angels. This week we will continue to focus on character development. What has Suds learned from his experience in third grade so far?
Our reading rotations continue! In reading groups, we will begin our leveled guided reading. During guided reading groups, students are working in differentiated small groups with me! In these groups, we will work toward the specific reading goals each group has.
writing: We have chosen our “seed ideas” Great writers often “rehearse” their stories before putting them on paper. This week we will work in small groups to rehearse our seed ideas, focusing on sharing the vivid details of our small moment. Then, we begin to draft!
grammar: So far, we have reviewed nouns, verbs, and adjectives. We now step into the part of speech that describes a verb…adverbs!
religion: This week, we will give our focus to The Sacrament of Eucharist. What is this Sacrament? How does God help us through this sacrament? We will discuss its meaning, discover the symbols that represent it, and find Bible verses that align to it. We will also learn about some of the miracles of Jesus.
October is the month of the rosary! As a school, we will highlight the importance of the rosary and work to make our own rosaries together.
word work: This week we will become familiar with different word work activities that we will complete throughout the school year. This week we will work on writing stories with our spelling words, practice developing our vocabulary, and use our words in context. Our official differentiated word work groups begin next week!
science: All about Forces and Motion! This is a good introduction to physics. This week we will learn what force and motion are and become familiar with the ways we use force in our everyday lives.
Thank you all for your continued support!
Blessings,
Miss Poindexter
Happy Wednesday! I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. A short, but busy week ahead!
