A look at our week…
Math: This week, we are continuing with our Unit 2 studies of organizing data. Today students made flip-books to help model the process of place value changes. We will begin learning about medians, modes, and other data terms this week with some fun activities and games!
Reading: We are reading intensely and growing ideas of the characters in our fiction books as we come together in Reading Workshop. As a class, we are looking at our novel study, The Tiger Rising, to guide our thinking about how authors bring their characters to life!
Writing: Students are drafting scenes of their realistic fiction stories and they are filled with drama! We’ve been working on how to SHOW vs TELL in our writing and we’ve got some awesome stories in the works. This week, we’re focusing on how to become our characters and get readers invested in our stories.
Social Studies: This past week, students learned about the 4 regions of CA. We worked on a project to organize some facts from our textbook! This week, we continue to learn about our state’s geography.
Science: We have explored our “Human Machine” by learning about our bones, joints, tendons, eyes, and brains. This week, we will review and take our first Science test (planned for Thursday).
Religion: This week, we’re studying how we learn about God through the Church. We’ll learn about the different roles within the Church: bishops, deacons, priests, etc.
Let’s have a great week!
