Hello 4th Grade Families! We had a great time today with our stuffed animals/friends and movie in the afternoon! January is coming to a close so soon. Here’s a look at our week:
Important Dates:
- Tuesday, January 31: Last Day of the Book Fair
- Friday, February 3: 2pm Dismissal
Homework:
- IXL Math: (Remember, the goal is NOT 100 — do your best)
- D.32: Estimate products: multiply by 1-digit numbers
- D.40: Lattice multiplication
- 20-30 minutes of reading, 5 times a week – 5 Reading Responses (Tuesday-Tuesday)
- Please have students read NONFICTION — they have checked out books from our library and continue to do so if needed
- Soon we will be mixing up our responses between nonfiction and fiction
This Week in Class:
- Math: We are finishing up our unit on Multiplication and have been working very hard! Students have learned multiple strategies for tackling large number problems. We will have our unit test soon.
- Writing: We are beginning to draft our essays! Students have been collecting materials for their essays in the forms of lists and mini-stories. This week, we take the next step and start to put it all together.
- Reading: Our groups have presented on their 1st weather extremes. This week, we begin to take on a new research topic and work to compare/contrast this information to what we’ve just learned. We are also learning how to work in a team with these research groups!
- Religion: The 10 Commandments – We have learned what each of the commandments are, and now we will focus on how we can live according to them.
- Social Studies: We’re inching closer and closer to the Mission Era. This week, we’ll do our best to wrap up Early European Explorers!
- Science: We’re taking a little hiatus from Mystery Science to focus on Social Studies so that we’ll be ready for our upcoming field trip in March! (more details to come closer to the date of the trip)
Let’s have a fantastic week!
