Hello 4th Grade Families!
Our week was short and sweet. Here’s an update of what we are currently learning in class! (Also, don’t forget to check out our podcast to hear from the students about our week! See link at end of post.)
Important Dates:
- Friday, September 22: No School – Teacher Inservice Day
- Wednesday, October 4: Picture Day
Our Learning:
- Math: Geometry – What are angles, rays, lines, and line segments?
- Reading: Character Development – We are reading The Tiger Rising as a class and focusing on our main character, Rob, as he moves to a new city and new school. Reading Groups have begun this week and they are off to a great start!
- Writing: Personal Narratives – Leads! How can we hook our readers to keep them wanting more?
- Grammar: What are personal pronouns? A word that replaces a person, place, or thing!
- Religion: The Bible – What are the parts of the Bible and how can we be Evangelists?
- Science: Eyes – What do people who are blind see? We created an eye model this week in class to explore and discuss this exact question.
- Social Studies: Geography of California – What are some unique characteristics of the 4 regions of California? We created a flip-book to record our learned facts.
Homework:
Just a reminder that homework has started this week. It is collected on Tuesday.
- Reading Response Journal: around 20-30 minutes of reading, 5 times a week – 5 Reading Responses (Tuesday-Tuesday)
- This week for their journal responses, students will read fiction books. Please have them use the menus as their guide. As students complete reading responses, have them color or cross out the activity chose.
- IXL: no IXLs this week
