5th Grade Academics

RELIGION

We are still learning about vocations in Religion this week – focusing on matrimony and Holy Orders.

MATH

Fractions, fractions, fractions! We are focusing on adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with unlike denominators.

SCIENCE

We are working on understanding the periodic table and what it “tells” us.

ELA

Reading: It’s all about poetry until our last day of school. We will focus on identifying the elements of poetry such as stanzas, lines, meter, rhyme scheme, and repetition.

Our writing focus continues to be persuasive, with a focus on the body of paragraphs & conclusion. Students will improve on their drafts as we learn new ways of writing. I can’t wait to see the end result next week.

Word Work:  All students are working with Latin roots and Greek words. We will continue studying them with games.

Social Studies

The students are creating a propaganda poster using Google Slides for the Townshend Act. They will present it with their partners on Thursday. We continue studying the American Revolution: Committees of Correspondence, Townshend Acts, Boston Massacre & Boston Tea Party.
