Dear Sacred Heart Families,

What a wonderful way to start our year here at SHS!  We had 200+ gather together to break bread (literally ha-ha!) and enjoy each other’s company at our PTC Back to School Potluck. There were so many delicious things to choose from it was well worth a second trip through the buffet line.  A special thanks to the roomparents and families of grades 1, 4, and 8 for helping us put this event together.  We are still anxiously awaiting David and Cindy Schmaeling’s fabulous rice and bean casserole recipe which will be featured here on our website!

Parents brought out their beach chairs and relaxed until dark.  Our children ran around playing on our newly refinished courts, play structure, and athletic field.  A special thank you to Mrs. Dwyer for joining us after our first full week of school. There was no better way to end our evening than to watch Principal Benner stroll out to the edge of the field and blow her whistle, which caused every child to freeze and look.  They even ran straight in!!  There was no need to ask twice.  Hmm, maybe we all need a whistle!  Of course, it would never work for us.

Thank you to those families who remained with us to clean up the leftovers and tidy things up.  We don’t know about you, but we were all exhausted.  Hopefully your children fell fast asleep and did not have one big sugar rush once you got home.

Don’t forget Back to School Night.  This is a great way to meet your child’s teacher(s) and touch base with them.  It will also provide you with an opportunity to hear what exciting things our teachers have in store for us during this new 2011-2012 year.
